On National Public Lands Day (NPLD) thousands of volunteers gather at national parks and forests, reservoirs and other public areas to improve and enhance the resources of those special places where Americans go to enjoy the outdoors. Volunteers build bridges and trails, plant stream banks, restore lakes and wetlands, remove invasive plants, improve wildlife habitat, repair cultural resources and recreational facilities, and carry out hundreds of other priority projects.
